The journey to
Besharreh and the Cedars 120 kilometers north of Beirut passes
through some of Lebanon's most spectacular scenery. Mostly beneath
the forest of Cedars, in the north of the country, the village of
Besharreh enjoys an attitude of 1,400 meters from where it overlooks
the Qadisha Valley. The town's red-tiled roofs olive groves and
mountain scenery remind us of a Greek village. This is the birthplace
of Gibran Khalil Gibran. Gibran museum, ancient churches and
monasteries here are worth visiting. The region of Besharreh is the
best area for walking and hiking programs all around the "Holy
Valley".
